Isn’t this one of the most beautiful doors you’ve seen. This is why I love walking around the side streets of London. I am also pretty fond of buildings (i’m sure you can tell from my pictures).

yet another cakey from uncle. YOU SEE! YOU SEE!! how hard for me NOT to be a piggy!!. I pretty much ate the whole cake this morning (come afternoon) whilst looking for a new printer. what kind of graphic design student at csm doesn’t have a printer and laptop? anywho. as much as cake is lovely, dainty, soft and spongy and delicate, what i really love is the texture if cake and the delicate colours combinations that come purely from putting together stuff that tastes good.  so enjoy >:D btw that lovely red filling is jelly not american jelly (its jam not jelly!) its actually wibbly wobbly jelly jelly :D

lets sell you something.

alrighty poos. dan dan give me some nice advertising links so i thought i ought of share for those graphically inclined.

somewhat fresh and slightly interactive way of being sold something by DHL

advertisements for cars are getting better and better. actually they’ve always been rather good to begin with. honda in particular have rather memorable ones. i also like how sound is being explored more in advertising.. or is it.. more like its much more obvious. we all remember fords campaign with the disected car parts turned muscial impliments. well anyways people who actually have a television may have actually seen this one. i haven’t so im posting it here. on a final note on this, it seems the idea of selling something has become a lot more about creating something unbelievable scale wise and idea wise. im not sure if thats a good or a bad thing but i think the well will start running dry rather soon.

ahh yush .. anyone remember the nicole kidman channel ads not that long ago. very moulin rouge oui? well i only just found out they were directed by baz lurman so that explains rather a lot. although the lines and story was bad to say the least. sorry as much is i like nicole kidman (mucho) i found her less convincing than audrey tautou in the lastest channel no. 5 ads. ( i never realised was so lovely to look at untill i saw her sans amelie hair. also a rather fine actress in my opinion having seen this ad.) very convincing emotional performance.  anyways we all know that perfume ads are a load of fluff, almost pure ideallic fantasy throwing the perfume at as since technically they make no comprehensible sense to us mere mortals who have no understanding of notes and aldehydes other organic compounds, doughnuts and what nots . anyways enjoy.

if you have the band width to waste go to channels site to watch it HD fullscreen.

love the art direction and story telling. you’ll love it even more when you see the behind the seens clip

theres nothing quite like seeing passion as someone talks about their labour of love. anyways. BACK TO WOOORK!!! GARHH!!

young man,

i love you. you make me feel like a total FAIL. how inspirational!

Just a little something i dug up after rumaging around badly named files. untitled-2.jpg asdf.jpg in various numbers and forms. Before i left for swansea I went on a little trip to the natural history museum and came across these amazing little things. Incredibily perfect repeating units making a beautiful structural, functional patterns. aka ruffles, why not. this just really makes me want to go buy yards and yards of lace and netting and just go crazy stitching ruffles goodness knows what for. they might make fairly decent neck scarfish ornaments. apologies for the noise/cctv screencapture wannabes, my camera really really struggles in low light. enjoy anywho!

ive been meaning to post about this for quite sometime. stills from THE BANQUET. a chinese film based loosely on Hamlet. visually its a stunning film  the colour palette of scenes are beautiful, looking regal without overdosing on the shiny metallics like in Curse of the golden flower, (a terrible film in quite a few aspects in my oppinion). the fight scenes and the way the film is filmed also adds a different quality, and nothing in particular feels too cliched or predictable, the whole film just flows very elegantly.

Ru guo ai (Perhaps Love)

At the core a love based film that is set in an environment that seems very disjointed with the world in general. It has some vague similarities to Moulin Rouge and the story is told as a story within a story. All in a all, beautiful get bitter.

[from now on rambles will be posted in grey] I really should watch more chinese films, theres that arthousey feel about these two movies dispite what appears to be a huge budget. Its good to see films that don’t conform to the hollywood fomulaic cliches that aim to make the story ‘whole’ by leaving very little to the imagination, having everyone holding hands by the end credits.  [A rather long while back the BBC did a documentry looking into the somewhat corrupt world of cencoring. The big name movies that we see are over cencoring and heavy control. Its content and age ratings versus trying to appeal a wider audience and therefore higher profits. ] Watchmen caused a bit of stir. kind of fresh. Its extreme and should i say, rather unforgiving? [loved the movie, it was working with great raw materials, the graphic novel is fantastic. I guess you could also say the choice of music is extra special too] There are websites cropping up, hatesites that are in my oppinion a bit too touchy. In this internet age, everyone who has an opinion can have it voiced, people have gotten over fearing and some, oversensitive, with overthinking and overestimation of self importance and political correctness. Rather than easing our everyday existance the fear merely causes additional difficulties for everyday good people trying to get by. Laws and rules are made to serve a community, but when someone is selfish, and work for their own benefits, others suffer in return. This is a bit of a sudden outburst. I’ve been watching Liar Game. A story where unsuspecting members of the public are selected to participate in a game. At the start both players are presented with say, 100,000 each. the objective is not to be tricked out of your money, if you manage to trick the other players money then it is yours. The loser of the game must pay back the loss, a debt. Another words the loser of the game provides the prize money. however if both players do not aim to earn any money then they don’t profit but as a result neither is put into debt. Its just a game, but if you think about it. The society works the same way, as long as there are people out for themselves, laws and rules made to help and protect us will only be so effective. [http://www.mysoju.com/liar-game/ if youre interested, its a reasonabily short series and worth watching like me, you’re fascinated by how things work)

so. im thinking of quitting graphic design.

SO THAT I CAN DO THIS!!! BEHOLD!!

er well no really.. but i do love systems and looking at how this works.. i should apply this kind of crazy meticulousness to my craft. this i find very mmm in a holy crap thats hot kind of way (very bad selection of sequential words, i know… im still running on a low tank and recovering from a week of 4am bed times and allnighters)

i should also take notes on how to present work in crits. this is how!

1- get a fantastic out of this world idea

2- present it with simple words.. speak slowly and organise thoughts logically

3- make everyone else think ‘wtf’ by making it seem as if your crazy complicated idea is as easy as ‘peeing your pants’ by doing 2 (quote taken from miss shin :D )

… mmm.. i love it when people talk technical.. drool…

…and one more for crazy fantabulousness and fun!

right. bed. now.
