One of the many reasons why i’m quiet right now. Back with rants soon.

Isn’t this one of the most beautiful doors you’ve seen. This is why I love walking around the side streets of London. I am also pretty fond of buildings (i’m sure you can tell from my pictures).

my i’ve been cooking like crazy lately and very mucho loving it also. Here’s a few of the things i’ve munched on recently.

steak with creamy mushroom sauce (proved by the lovely svenni) with spuds, carrots and leeks.

apple and raspberry crumble with wholemeal, oats and hazelnut crumble, eaten with cream, or my favourite CUSTARD <3

this morning’s brunch: caramelized french onion, carrots with butter, gently cooked cherry vine tomatos, leeks, polish sausages (gift from my favourite bunny) and mashed potatos with loads of butter and little chunks of sausage.

Well now.. it’s tea time I believe… hohoho

my piggyself was lucky enough to be invited by shinface to waddle off to paris for a few hours on saturday courtesy of eurostar. Being last minute people we wiki-travel-planned our journey (okay don’t judge me) we had a plan of going to a few places in what we assumed was reasonable approximation to one another (south and a bit more south). so we rented bikes and did all the navigation all by ourselves (… somewhat unsuccessfully).. in our fourth hour we finally managed to find the catacombs (Les Catacombes de Paris) the first site on our trip which just so happened to be closed. so we proceeded to our next stop the Rodin museum.. which we decided to give up on and just cycle around instead.. and there was a lot more to see instead of eyes on map, road signs and roads and pedestrians. being safety concious tourists.. (trying not to run over anyone or be run over) we didn’t take that many pictures.. hands on handle bars, feet.. um balancing.. as one does..  here’s what i did manage to snapple up when we paused to glance at the map only to reestablish we had no idea where we were.

unfortunately we didnt munchie as much as we really should have.. this is the only bit of food porn i could bring you and this was on the eurostar homeward bound.. which btw.. has very nice food.. better than what youre going to get from a short flight. om noms… this was a apricot tart with thyme. also the carriages were very nice.. in terms of nice lighting yellow rather than harsh blue light.. (not that most people mind or notice) anywho if one does go to paris, i would highly recommend renting a bike, you really get to see the city from what i imagine is more of a locals perspective of the city.. the buildings are beautiful.. well i happen to like looking at buildings a lot.. as im sure you know by now. also i would like to say that french motorists are very forgiving a huge contrast from our narrow london streets and for the few people i nearly did run into .. as well as my poorly spoken franglais. thank you france, eurostar and my dear shinface for a nice little getaway.

much. less.

not much to report. well that’s a wee bit of a lie. lets just say everything is being under rug swept.

aie aie  ‘last’ scheduled summer break, the calm before the storm that will be my third and final year at csm. somehow it feels like i haven’t been to university at all, im sure the coming months will make me eat my words.

starting to question the value in the pursuit of aesthetics. how. helpful. ahem. my fascination with old things is gradually eclipsing any interest i have for real time and real time aesthetics. OLD RELICS. the novelty of it. and the novelty in it being simply different to what is readily available to us. patterns are intricate. possessions made wholeheartedly and the price paid and valued wholeheartedly. plastic is made a beauty not a commodity and items last for more than one generation… i’ve also fallen back in love with interiors and homes. nothing is quite as fascinating as the balance of functionality of daily necessities and simple pleasures of eyecandy. thats what makes homes interesting and unique for me would probably be those unsightly objects become an artifact documenting a smooth everyday day; objects that you’ve held on for years because they simply do the job. the objects that you’ve never thought twice if it fitted in with your home, your image or the image of yourself you want to display to others. the alarmclock you’ve woken up to since you were fourteen. the beaker in the bathroom thats lost it’s shine.  if its not broken, don’t fix it.
